The Gold Standard Foundation is a premier registry for carbon credits generated by afforestation and reforestation activities. One strength of The Gold Standard is that it accepts retroactive submissions for carbon-sequestering activities that were commenced up to three years prior to submission.
I have just noticed that The Gold Standard Foundation issued updated guidelines for retroactive crediting in Land Use and Forest projects in February 2015. Amongst these guidelines is a special exception to the three-year retroactive rule for afforestation/reforestation projects. The retroactive crediting period has been extended to TEN YEARS for afforestation/reforestation projects that submit their initial documentation by January 1, 2016. This means that if you initiated an afforestation or reforestation project in the past ten years and it is eligible for carbon certification with The Gold Standard, you have until January 2016 to get an application together and submit the initial documents.
